  • “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
  • “Darkness is only driven out with light, not more darkness.”
  • “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”
  • “Love is the only cement that can hold this broken community together. When I am commanded to love, I am commanded to restore community, to resist injustice, and to meet the needs of my brothers.”
  • “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
  • “We shall have to repent in this generation , not so much for the evil deeds of the wicked people, but for the appalling silence of the good people.”
  • “Discrimination is a hellhound that gnaws at Negroes in every waking moment of their lives to remind them that the lie of their inferiority is accepted as truth in the society dominating them.”
  • “In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
  • “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
  • “He who is devoid of the power to forgive, is devoid of the power to love.”
  • “The Negro’s great stumbling block in the drive toward freedom is not the White Citizens Councilor or the Ku Klux Klanner but the white moderate who is more devoted to order than to justice.”
  • “Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away, and that in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.”
  • “Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”
  • “The art of acceptance is the art of making someone who has just done you a small favor wish that he might have done you a greater one.”
  • “If the cruelties of slavery could not stop us, the opposition we now face will surely fail. Because the goal of America is freedom, abused and scorned tho’ we may be, our destiny is tied up with America’s destiny.”
  • “Free at last; free at last; thank God Almighty we are free at last.”

YOU ARE A WINNER

YOU ARE A WINNER

There are people who refuse to settle for less. This does not mean that everything on their paths becomes perfect and right; these people normally meet up with many different obstacles. For those who refuse to settle for mediocrity, the journey is not always smooth and glamorous; it is normal to encounter rejection, negativity, push backs and sometimes failure. In the solace of our minds we sometimes go through periods when we are feeling discouraged, frustrated, hopeless; when in the middle of the night, tears of uncertainty well up and silently soak through our pillows as we search for answers, not knowing if and how to continue but at the end of it all, success comes to those who summon the courage to lift themselves up and continue, for at the end of the day they turn their obstacles to stepping stones. These are people with your kind of spirit, might, strength, and attitude.

It is important to push back and fight these feelings of defeat. Our inner dialogue should be about persisting to the finish line.

There will finally come a day when all the sowing and heavy lifting is done and the flowers of your hard work begin to blossom in the bright light of success.

Cherish the relationship with those (maybe not too many) who believe in you and cheer you on; collaborate with those who coach, motivate and inspire you; and most importantly, do not give up! For success comes by digging deep. The price for success is often paid upfront no credits, no loans here. Whatever doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, go out there and win. You are a winner you shall overcome, it don’t matter if it’s now, the next minute or next hour, or next day, or next month or even next year. Remember as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.

Four Easy Ways to Protect Your Online Reputation

Four Easy Ways to Protect Your Online Reputation

NEW YORK, Dec. 27, 2011

Diet and Exercise Was So 2011 for New Year’s Resolutions: Worry About Your Online Rep in 2012

We’ve all made the New Year’s resolutions — usually more than once — to eat healthier, exercise more and take better care of ourselves.

But have you made the resolution to take care of yourself…online?

In the digital age everyone needs to take control of their online reputation. And don’t think avoiding social media is the answer. Being absent often makes it worse — you can then be defined by just a few negative posts.

Here are four things you can do to stay savvy in the New Year. And trust us it’s easier than putting down the cheeseburger and picking up the dumbbells!

1. See What’s Out There: Find out what is being said about you or your business. Google yourself!

2. Stay in the Know: Instantly know when your name is mentioned online. Set up Google alerts for your name, product or brand.

3. Change What You Can: Didn’t know your Facebook photos were visible to anyone who searches your name? Thought all your Tweets were private? Review your privacy controls on all your social media profiles, so you are in control of who sees what.

4. Bury the Bad: It’s impossible to remove unflattering information other’s post about you…but don’t give up hope. Post positive or neutral content about yourself anywhere you can to drive those pesky posts to bottom of your search results.

To learn more about protecting yourself online read our daily blog on www.DigitalAssassinationBook.com or pick up a copy of Richard Torrenzano and Mark Davis’s newest book Digital Assassination: Protecting Your Reputation, Brand, or Business Against Online Attacks
